Zusammenfassung
360-degree image and film content has gained popularity in the media and in the MICE industry (Meeting, Incentive, Conventions and Exhibitions). There are several reasons for this development. On the one hand, it is the immersive character of this media form, on the other hand, the development of recording and presentation technology has made considerable progress in resolution and quality. Additionally, after a decade of dynamic growth, the MICE industry is focusing on a disruptive shift towards more digitally based solutions. 360-degree panoramas are particularly prevalent in VR and AR technology. The aim is to project 360-degree content in specially equipped rooms to provide a shared experience for the audience. One area of application for 360-degree panoramas and films in particular is conference rooms in hotels, conference centre and other venues that want to create an immersive environment for their customers. The aim of this paper is to give an overview of the different application scenarios and possible uses in terms of customer centricity for such conference rooms. These applications and usage scenarios were successfully tested and implemented in the 360-degree conference room "Dortmund" at the Hotel Park Soltau in Soltau, Germany. Finally, the advantages, challenges and limitations of this proposed approach are described.
